Affiliate Marketing is a business strategy that has been used for decades, as a matter of fact long before the Internet came into being. More recently, companies, organizations, and individual people have turned to affiliate marketing for use on the Internet. This promotional technique is great for promoting or selling products, services, and programs on the Web.

Affiliate marketing involves 2 or more active participants to make it successful. Let’s take a look at an example of an affiliate marketing program. The ABC Shoe Company makes athletic footwear and it has developed a new model. To promote this new product, they will turn to their affiliate marketers to sell the new shoes to the

retailers in that marketplace. When an affiliate makes a sale, he is paid a commission. In other words, one sale, one commission.

Today, the Internet has grown into a very large entity. The Internet is not only a source of information, it is also a marketplace to the World. Do You want to buy something? Go on the Internet and no doubt it will be there. Perhaps the largest marketplace is Ebay. And the majority of the vendors on Ebay sell their products as affiliate marketers. Some affiliates are still being paid on the basis of one sale, one commission. The only problem with this plan is that every time a sale is made, the affiliate must move

on to the next transaction to earn more money.

Alternatively, there is a much more attractive financial arrangement for the affiliate marketers. This commission plan creates passive income. For example, the XYZ Computer Company develops a new software program. This new program is called CompuWhiz and it is the latest and greatest at what it can do. CompuWhiz is 10 times faster than its competitors and is now readily available. It is very reasonably priced and does not require any special skills tp operate. Only one problem. Nobody knows about it!

Enter affiliate marketing and passive income. The XYZ Computer Company decided to retain its rights to CompuWhiz. Therefore the product is not going to be sold to the clients.

Instead, CompuWhiz will be leased on a monthly basis. The affiliate marketers will receive a commission at the time that the lease is started. And here is where passive income comes into play. Each and every month that the lease is in force, the affiliate marketers will be paid a commission. As more and more leases are signed, the passive income payable to the affiliate marketers will continue to grow and grow. No wonder passive income created by affiliate marketing is a dream come true!
